Debut of Mebelplast S.A. at Birmingham Fair

In January 2008 the principal Polish manufacturer and exporter of upholstered furniture Mebelplast S.A. for the first time presented their products during Birmingham Fair in Great Britain.

Debuting at the last Birmingham Fair, Mebelplast S.A. joined the group of approximately 600 exhibitors who participated in the fair, which is considered to be one of the most important commercial events in Great Britain. The collection presented during the three days of exposition included for example such furniture models as: Ravenna, Lotus, Bellissima and California Weiss leather Chesterfield. The Emporio sofa was presented in two versions: the California Weiss and California Schwarz leathers. Other equally interesting proposals were different pieces of furniture in fabrics, for example the Dubai sofa in the soft Rainbow suede leather and sofas named Elizabeth, Enzo and Lolita in chenille fabrics.

All the furniture models presented during the fair comply with the British Standards – BS 5852. It is a set of standards for upholstered furniture, which was implemented in Great Britain in 1988 in order to enhance the safety features and preclude fires. These are extremely severe standards, which apply both to upholstery fabrics and foam used to line elements of furniture. Furniture manufactured in accordance with this standard are resistant to fire from such sources as cigarettes, matches or gas flames. Materials manufactured in accordance with the BS 5852 standard melt but do not burn. Furthermore, all upholstered furniture must be specially marked in order to confirm they have been manufactured in accordance with the aforementioned standard.

Attractive design patterns and abundance of high-quality fabrics in the furniture manufactured by Mebelplast are a vivid proof that aesthetical values need not be compromised by the safety features of the furniture. This is undoubtedly one of the reasons why the Polish manufacturer’s stand each day attracted more and more visitors. The Polish furniture turned out to be particularly alluring for the interior designers present at the fair.

The fair in Birmingham took place between January 20 and January 23, 2008. The fair is the most important event for the furniture industry in Great Britain. Each year, it offers a wide range of traditional and modern interior design products, including among others furniture, lighting and all kinds of accessories. Every year, the fair provides fresh new ideas and is an indispensable opportunity to get acquainted with tomorrow’s leading tendencies.
